advocacy

ad·vo·ca·cy (ad'-vuh-kuh-see)  n.

The act of pleading or arguing in favor of something, such as a cause,
    idea, or policy; active support.

And that's exactly what we are doing.  Our advocacy efforts will involve working with the many other organizations that have a stake in the future of our river, including:

  • Government agencies:
    • Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks
    • Bureau of Land Management
    • U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
  • Non-governmental organizations (NGO's)
    • Big Blackfoot Chapter Trout Unlimited
    • Blackfoot Challenge
    • Clearwater Resource Council
    • Ecosystem Management Research Institute
    • Clark Fork Coalition

We strive to partner with groups like these to coordinate our efforts and to fill the inevitable gaps that arise when comparing each group's particular mission.

Our current advocacy efforts focus on several important issues of the day:

    •  Improved river recreation regulations to minimize any negative impact of that use.

    •  Changes to current fishing regulations to improve fish mortality.

    •  Aquatic biological research to establish solid base line statistics for ongoing monitoring.
